Business Declares

Business Declares is a not for profit organisation comprising individuals with a vast range of experience from the SME, B Corp and FTSE100 sectors.

We exist to raise awareness of this agenda across the business sector
and encourage acceleration of their action to address climate change, biodiversity loss and social injustice, balancing profits with people and ethics, living within planetary boundaries

We work with other climate initiatives, including an official
partnership with the COP26 Race to Zero Campaign, focussing on amplifying and collaborating with others to maximise reach and impact.
We also convene dialogues, acting as an agitator and critical business friend, to explore difficult challenges which we know will take collective effort to solve.
By sharing thought leadership and good practice we support member organisations to mobilise change in and outside of their business, helping them to find solutions, and act to effect change.

In order to become a member of Business Declares an organisation must evidence an ambitious, credible and transparent climate emergency plan, publicly available and driven by their executive leadership to engage all employees and stakeholders. It should set a challenging net zero target, which accelerates action towards 2030 or as near to this date as possible depending on the business complexity. The strategy must consider Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions, biodiversity loss and social justice, recognising the interconnected nature of environmental and social issues

We are backed by a number of business leaders who are at the forefront of climate action. Organisations officially supporting Business Declares may not yet be able to declare a climate emergency plan or commit to a 2030 net zero but will benefit from access to our resources such as training, education and speakers to raise awareness internally with employees and with external stakeholders to help build the momentum for more urgent change.
